About the program

This opportunity is ideal for those looking to transition from theoretical studies to practical work experience. Spend a year in a hands-on working environment, gaining valuable experience, knowledge, and professional networks that will enhance your future studies. You might even pick up an Australian accent along the way.

As a participant in our student program, you will collaborate closely with our support teams in our Medical IT business area. Your responsibilities will include receiving and registering customer cases, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues alongside our experienced engineers.

This opportunity is available to students in engineering, IT, computer science, or related fields who are looking to take a break from school and gain new experiences in real-world working environments for a year. This might be particularly appealing if you are about to finish your bachelor’s degree and want to explore the world before starting your master’s degree.

Our application process is as follows:

  1. Submit Your Application: Send us your application, specifying why you want to join Sectra, what motivates you, and your thoughts on this opportunity. We will review it carefully.
  2. Initial Contact: If your profile and personal statement align with our vision and business, we will contact you to learn more about you and your aspirations. You will also be invited to complete two mandatory online assessment tests as part of our process.
  3. Final Decision: If both parties agree that this is a good fit, you will be offered a position with us, and your journey at Sectra will begin!

A new “class” of students starts every January and July. The program is divided into two six-month phases: the first half in Sweden and the second half in Australia.

As a participant in the program, you will receive:

  • A monthly salary
  • Comprehensive introduction in Sweden with experienced colleagues
  • Visa, flight, and housing in Australia provided and funded by Sectra

You also have the option to stay in Australia for an additional year, though this will not be funded by Sectra.
