Privacy and cookie policy
Sectra recognizes and respects the importance of privacy for visitors to our websites. This policy provides an account of the cookies used on our websites and the personal data we collect. Sectra AB, with company registration number 5560648304 and registered address at Teknikringen 20, 583 30, Linköping, is the data controller for the personal data collected through this website.
When visiting our websites, we automatically collect certain technical information from your browser, such as the pages you visit, the referring page, your browser type and screen size, and your IP address, which is anonymized before storage. We use this information to produce aggregated visitor statistics without cookies and without being able to recognize you between website visits once more than 24 hours have passed between visits. This is described in detail in the section “How We Measure Visits” below, where you can also opt out of this automated measurement.
In addition, Sectra may collect personal data such as your name, email address, and other information that you voluntarily provide when filling out our forms, as well as, with your consent, information collected through cookies. You can control how we use cookies on your device by changing your cookie settings at any time here.
Personal data
Personal data (e.g. name, address, phone number, email address, IP address) and non-personal data (e.g. your operating system and browser) provided to Sectra AB through this website will be used only by companies within the Sectra Group, its subcontractors and service providers per the sections below.
Sectra’s website may be used for purposes including, but not limited to, contact with Sectra, downloading white papers and subscription to article update newsletters. In conjunction with such purposes, we will ask you to enter the information (e.g. name, email, telephone number and other information) that is necessary for us to comply with your request and to initiate future contact regarding the same matter or other matters, if consent is provided. Sectra will only use your personal data to fulfill these relevant purposes and is collected based on the data subject’s consent.
As a global company, Sectra may transfer personal data it has collected on an aggregate or individual level to various divisions, subsidiaries, and affiliated companies of the Sectra Group around the world located inside or outside the European Economic Area for the purposes stated above.
To ensure security and protect against attacks, our hosting provider Oderland collects server logs. These include IP addresses, visited URLs, timestamps, browser and operating system details, and referring URLs. The logs are used only for security purposes, never for tracking visitors. They are automatically deleted daily but may be stored centrally for up to three months. Anonymized data may be kept longer for traffic analysis.
We will delete or anonymize your personal data when it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected and subsequently processed.
If you have submitted personal data to us—when registering for article update newsletters, for example—you have the right to access and rectify your data. More details are provided below.
Your right to extracts and correction of your personal data
You may at no cost obtain information regarding the personal data, relating to you as a data subject, obtained through this website that has been processed by Sectra as often as required by the data protection laws applicable in your country of residence. In addition, you always have the right to (i) request rectification of incorrect data, (ii) modify information that you have previously provided, (iii) revoke consent granted and state that you oppose further processing of your personal data or that you do not wish to continue receiving information from Sectra. If you revoke your consent, your personal data will be deleted as soon as possible.
How we measure visits
We use the analytics platform Matomo, hosted on our own servers within the EU. No visit data is shared with third parties. Visits are measured in two ways:
Without consent – cookie-free statistics
For all visitors, we collect aggregated statistics without setting cookies or storing anything on your device. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in understanding how our website is used.
The data collected is:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Pages visited and referring page | Understand which content is used and how visitors arrive |
| Browser, operating system, language, screen size | Ensure the website works across devices and browsers |
| IP address, anonymized before storage | Approximate geography (country/region); the full IP address is never stored |
| A technical short-lived identifier (config_id) | Groups page views within a single day into one visit; resets every 24 hours and cannot be used to recognize the same visitor over longer periods or across websites |
Each visit is stored as a separate record for up to 180 days and is then automatically deleted. The technical identifier used for measurement is automatically reset every 24 hours, which means that visits cannot be linked across different days. As a result, we cannot determine whether visits occurring more than 24 hours apart originate from the same visitor, nor can we analyze browsing patterns over longer periods of time. You have the right to object: use the opt-out below, which stops all measurement of your browser, including the cookie-free statistics.
With your consent – statistics cookies
If you accept statistic cookies, we additionally set cookies that recognize your browser between visits – listed under Statistics below.
Cookies
We only use necessary cookies by default. Other types of cookies are only activated if you have given us your consent.
A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer and used to recognize your computer upon return. The cookie may transmit information via your browser for the purpose of authenticating or identifying the computer (via the IP address, for example) or the user. Cookies may contain information such as registration data and user preferences. When a server receives a request from a computer that has stored a cookie from a website, the server can use the information stored in the cookie in combination with the information stored on the server. A cookie cannot collect information from your computer, nor can it contain viruses or other damaging files. There are similar methods for collecting data, such as LocalStorage and SessionStorage. These terms are used synonymously in this text.
Cookies come in two types: persistent cookies and session cookies. Sectra’s website uses both types of cookies. A persistent cookie remains on a computer for a specified length of time, whereas a session cookie is stored temporarily in the computer’s memory for the duration of a site visit and disappears when you close the browser.
You may delete cookies if you no longer wish to store them on your computer. Please refer to your browser’s help guide for further guidance. You can also easily control how we use cookies on your device by changing those settings at any time here.
