Meet Adam Alsegård, Software Developer
Adam’s education: Master of Science in Media Technology
What made you apply for a position at Sectra?
My first experience with Sectra was as a summer worker, and I applied for that position because Sectra had great presence at our career fairs at Campus Norrköping. I really liked the visual aspects combined with medical applications and wanted to learn more about the company. I had a great time during that summer and happily accepted when I was offered a position as a developer in Radiology Imaging ImIT after I graduated.
I disappeared to London for a few years but was headhunted back to Sectra. The main reason why I chose to come back is that I believe Sectra is a great company, with the possibility for personal growth, and I felt aligned with its purpose: contributing to society in a meaningful way while tackling technically challenging tasks. The challenges we face are exciting, and as a highly visual person, I appreciate the visual aspects of our products. That’s also why I chose to work in the Radiology Imaging group.
How long have you been working at Sectra?
I started as a summer worker in 2017 and continued as a full-time employee after graduating in 2018. After a little over a year, I moved to London for other adventures before returning to Sectra in 2023.
In my opinion, Sectra is a very inclusive workplace. It has a friendly and social culture, with many employees bringing experience from student life, theater, or similar activities that add energy to the office.
What do you do at Sectra?
My team and I focus on image loading performance and rendering, ensuring that our products operate efficiently and quickly across all types of networks. We identify problems and potential improvements, implement solutions, and then test their effectiveness.
What do you like most about your job?
Getting the feeling that you’re truly making a contribution. We make changes that have a real impact on our customers and support our shift to cloud-based operations. The work we do enhances the lives of radiologists, which is very rewarding.
How would you describe Sectra as a workplace?
In my opinion, Sectra is a very inclusive workplace. It has a friendly and social culture, with many employees bringing experience from student life, theater, or similar activities that add energy to the office. This leads to high employee engagement. We often have music performances, game nights, internal conferences, and various activities. I find it to be a great, safe, and creative workplace, with the flexibility to work from home when needed.
